 What the Tea Ceremony is

The tea ceremony is part of Japan’s traditional culture, and can be enjoyed together with macha (powdered green tea) and Japanese confectioneries.  The tea ceremony has a long history, and as it is highly formal, it may be awkward for the uninitiated to approach.  However, the Nihon Ocha Kokoro Kenkyukai (the Society for Researching the Spirit of Japanese Tea) has started holding relaxed, straight-forward lessons which do not require kneeling on the floor.

Experience Japan’s culture by performing the tea ceremony.

Enjoy delicious seasonal Japanese confectioneries.

Japanese confectioneries are traditional sweets.  They use bean paste (anko) made from azuki beans, as well as other ingredients, with craftsmen (professionals) carefully making each piece. As the motifs of Japanese confectioneries vary by season, they are a pleasure both for one’s eyes and tongue.

 Introduction

(Can I be helpful to others with my special skill?)

I encountered the tea ceremony when I was 20 years old.  I was entranced by the allure of tea. Thirty years after I first encountered tea, I attribute my good health until now, and above all, my happiness, to the tea ceremony.

Thinking “I will make people healthy through the tea ceremony,” I launched the “tea whisk method classroom” to enable everyone to enjoy participating, without the need for kneeling on the floor.  Please enjoy the spirit of Japan and its traditional culture through the tea ceremony.  You too can experience the magic of tea.
